The Cavendish Community and Conservation Association will sponsor a presentation on Wednesday, April 28 at 6 p.m. by a group of kids from an organization based in Woodstock called Change The World Kids (www.changetheworldkids.org) who will discuss their mission and their work. The presentation will be held at Crows Bakery on Depot Street in Proctorsville.
They are an energetic group of middle and high school age youth undertaking humanitarian and environmental efforts to make a positive difference in local communities and across the globe. They have a wide variety of interests, talents, and personalities, and go to different schools, but they share a dream. Formed ten years ago in the Upper Valley area of Vermont, they became a non-profit corporation in 2003. Now chapters of Change the World Kids are forming across the United States.
They get together to help individuals in their community with activities such as weatherizing homes, cutting brush and stacking wood. They also look beyond the borders of their own town to other communities both in this country and afar. Projects to help preserve the rain forest in Costa Rica and to raise funds for the relief efforts in Haiti are some of the endeavors they have undertaken.
Come and find out more about who they are and what they do. Come and be inspired. Beverages and cookies will be served. For more information contact Robin Timko at 226-7736.
