ELIZABETHTOWN - The new women's fitness center at Charms-Hands on 8 Williams St. opened its doors on Thursday, Jan. 13, to offer a new Weight Watchers program for area men and women.
"We are adding classes because we had such a great response," Jeanne Brown, class leader, said. "We are so happy to be offering this program locally, because many of our members drove at least an hour previously to attend meetings, and meetings are such an important component to weight loss because of the support and information shared amongst the members."
A new member to the class was quoted as saying, "One of the best reasons I came to the meeting was to pick up tips and pointers from the other members who have already dealt with the issues that I am having."
Charmain Fenoff, owner of Charms-Hands, also said that she is working together with Cobble Hill Inn owner Chrissy Cashin to help with eating healthy.
"The Cobble Hill Inn will be adding two weekly specials for those of us on Weight Watchers," said Cashin. "We are more than happy to accommodate any special health needs, like steamed vegetables, no butter oil, dressing on the side, anything that you would like to ask us to do, just ask."
"The Weight Watchers program will be open to all in the other half of the building," said Fenoff, who owns the businesses located next to Champlain National Bank.
Fenoff said that the Weight Watchers program will be held on Mondays and Thursdays at 5 p.m., and that the new ladies fitness center will be open for flexible hours.
"We have a universal gym for strength training, pilates and a total gym machine," Fenoff said. "There are also three bikes, three treadmills and three air walks. We also have a room for those who want to work out with DVDs, which we have a bout 50-100 of. We are also going to have Wii tournaments because they are always fun."
