LOWELL, Vt.-On April 4 at approximately 12:12 p.m., the Derby Vermont State Police Barracks received a 911 call about a two year old child that sustained a gunshot wound to the chest from a .22 caliber rifle while at a family residence on Potter Road in Lowell, Vermont. The Vermont State Police responded to the scene along with Missisquoi Rescue Squad.
Upon arrival emergency responders immediately transported the male child to North Country Regional Hospital. The child was later was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Detectives with the Vermont State Police Bureau of Investigation continue to investigate this tragic incident. No further information is available, at this time. Identification is pending notification of next-of-kin.
