To the Editor:
Having served as state assemblywoman for the 110th Assembly District, I recognize the importance of having qualified and competent individuals in public office. There is plainly no substitute for experience and education. When an incumbent has a proven record of achievement and experience and his demonstrated their devotion and dedication to serving the people and their community, we need to keep them in office.
Sheriff Larry Cleveland is just such a public servant and brings to the table a level of experience and education second to none. His qualifications and credentials are simply overwhelming when compared to those who have challenged him both past and present.
His critics say he is a disciplinarian. I say being a disciplinarian is part of his position as our top law enforcement administrator. Public safety is not a playground for political fodder, it is a serious business that often deals with life and death events.; I dont want my sheriff to be a puppet, influenced by politics, sitting on the sidelines. I want my sheriff to be someone who isnt afraid to fairly enforce the law, and one who commands a leadership role and presence in our community, one who stands up to be heard and wont compromise on any level to anyone when it comes to public safety.
In my opinion, it is Sheriff Larry Cleveland and he deserves our support.
