PLATTSBURGH - The town of PLattsburgh has received a housing rehabilitation grant from the New York State Department of Housing and Community Renewal for the amount of $300,000. This money will be used to improve housing conditions in the town of Plattsburgh by providing financial assistance to aid in the repair of substandard housing stock.
The primary objective is to eliminate conditions hazardous to the health or safety of residents living within the town. Energy conservation improvements and other critical structural repairs will be encouraged when these conditions are identified. In addition, there will be work involving the following trades: roofing; siding; replacement windows; boilers and furnaces; plumbing; and electrical.
For those wishing to apply it is required the firm has insurance and they just have one day Safe Work Practices course.
The town prefers general contractors who will cover all phases of the project, but will accept applications from individuals in specialty trade areas.
