SARANAC LAKE -Daffest kicked off for the first time on Friday in Saranac Lake, a couple weeks later than expected.
The record flooding and high water of two weeks ago put a damper on the expected running of the festival, which was scheduled from April 29 through May 1.
However, organizers are coming back with a similar program for the weekend, which started May 13 and will run through May 15.
Village officials made the decision to postpone the festival two weeks ago as flooding closed the Main Street and Dorsey Street bridges, prompting the decision to shut the event down in the evening hours of April 29.
The rescheduling of the event will be similar to the originally planned dates, including the Daffest soapbox car derby and other activities.
