SCHROON LAKE - A deadline has been established for names to be included on the Schroon Lake Veterans Memorial Wall.
The list of names for the wall must be completed by May 30, explained Ed Donley of the veterans committee.
Any veteran with an honorable discharge who served two years active duty and grew up in Schroon Lake or was conscripted out of Schroon Lake or was a full time resident and on the voting rolls of Schroon Lake, is eligible," Donley said. "The memorial will have over 700 names going back to the Revolutionary War."
The list of names may be reviewed on the town website or in the town clerk's office, supervisor's office or town library.
"Contributions are still needed and are gratefully appreciated," Donley said. "Contributions can be sent to the Veterans Memorial Wall Fund, P.O. Box 101, Schroon Lake 12870. The Veterans Memorial Wall."
The committee consist of Donley, commander of VFW Post 362, Donald Sharlan, commander of American Legion Post 982, and Don Sage, quartermaster of VFW Post 362.
"The committee, on behalf of all the Schroon Lake veterans, wishes to thank all those who have contributed and helped support this memorial," Donley said. "Special thanks to the town of Schroon Supervisor Cathy Moses and the town board as well as the town of Schroon highway department and park department."
