WESTPORT - The Depot Theatre, a 501(c)3 nonprofit professional theatre in Westport, is now accepting donations for their annual rummage sale. The rummage sale is held every year on the Friday, Saturday, and Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend. The Depot accepts furniture, household goods, nice clean clothes, books, music, movies, and games. Popular items at the sale are decorations and lawn and garden ornaments. The Depot will no longer be accepting electronics or computer because it is difficult and expensive to dispose of unsold electronics - especially TVs and CRT computer monitors.
Staff is on hand to help unload donations during the week, but drop-offs are welcome on the honor system. Last year, after the sale, the Depot teamed up with a local church group to send some of the unsold clothing to war-torn villages in Afghanistan. All proceeds from the sale support the Depot Theatre, which provides live professional theatre as well as a gallery space for local artists, free theatre education programs for area youth, and to support programs like Name Your Price Night - where any one in the community is welcome to set their own price of admission to the theatre.
