MIDDLEBURY The Vermont Urban and Community Forestry Council (UCF) is seeking nominations for its annual Vermont Tree Stewards Awards. These awards reflect the genuine efforts and outstanding service of people and organizations within your community, said Duane Dickinson, council chairman. Every year I am amazed at the work people are doing to promote and care for trees. Awards are given in five categories: Community, Practitioner, Volunteer Group, Leader, and Youth/Student. If you know of a group or individual who deserves to become a Vermont Tree Steward, honor their good work. Award recipients will be recognized at a ceremony at the Statehouse in December. Nominations must be submitted by Nov. 7. Include a summary, which includes the work accomplished to justify the nomination for that given category and how it positively affected an urban and community project. Send nominations to Danielle Fitzko at 103 South Main St., Waterbury 05671 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
