TICONDEROGA Word was received here of the death of Donald R. Johnson of Batavia, NY, 82 yrs old, on Saturday January 5th. Mr. Johnson spent his entire life Batavia with the exception of his three years in the U.S. Marines during WWII and a brief stay in Ticonderoga when he worked for International Paper Co. He was married to the former Helen Mary Hopkins of Ticonderoga for just short of sixty years. Donald was an avid sportsman, outdoorsman, and hunter, belonging to several sports organizations and teams in the Batavia and Genesse area. He also was a long time active member of the Blue Ridge 300 Club out in North Hudson, brought there by his late father-in-law Francis Polly Hopkins. Donald is survived by his wife Helen, three sons, William, Peter, and Mark and there daughters Kathy (Lance Lewin), (Ellen ) Mark Audit and Sue (the late Rick Mlymic, fifteen grandchildren and three great grand children, an aunt and several cousin. Also, several in laws of Ticonderoga and Albany, and several nieces and nephews in this area. He was buried in the Saratoga National Cemetary.
