ALBANY - State Assemblywoman Janet L. Duprey, R-Peru, joined the Republican Assembly Conference in hosting its second annual Sportsmen and Outdoor Recreation Legislative Awareness Day in Albany Jan. 26.
Duprey and her colleagues greeted thousands of outdoor enthusiasts, sporting groups, and legislative activists from across the state, including the North Country. The gathering has become a yearly tradition highlighting the traditions of hunting, fishing, and outdoor recreation.
"Today's event was a wonderful opportunity for sportsmen's groups from around our state to meet with their legislators, and discuss the important role outdoor sports play in our local economic development," said Duprey. "With hunting, fishing, trapping, and other outdoor recreation contributing more than $6 billion annually to our state's economy, this event helps to showcase the positive impact that outdoor sports directly have on the North Country."
