MINERVA - Although the date was April 1, there was some no-fooling-around Easter egg collecting happening on the fields behind Minerva Central School that warm and sunny afternoon. Kids from pre-school age to third grade spread out across the soccer field and baseball diamond to locate and collect candy and colorful plastic eggs filled with toys and even more candy - it was quite the sight.
This adventure followed the singing of Easter songs in the school's lobby - great music showcased the pre-K through third grade singing voices.
After the kids grabbed every egg and piece of candy from outside, they came indoors to find cookies, juice, and prizes waiting for them in the cafeteria.
Sponsored by the Minerva Service Organization (MSO), this annual adventure was a great success. Along with the egg hunt, the MSO held a coloring contest for the pre-K through second graders and an Easter hat contest for the third graders. Every participant did an amazing job.
The following lists the happy first, second, and third place winners of the contests:
First place - Grace Savarie
Second place - Jonathan Ball
