Joseph Dedam, Julia Cox, Angel Barnes, Savanah Graves, Abigail Burdo and Kyra Schaefer practice for their upcoming performance of, “14 Ways to screw up your college Interview.”
The Seniors at Elizabethtown-Lewis Central School may not be ready for college after all.
The senior performance of the skit-based play, “14 Ways to Screw up your college Interview,” will be performed by 13 student-actors at the Elizabethtown-Lewis Central School on Saturday, Dec. 7, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 8, at 3 p.m.
It all began with one extra spot at a prestigious university. Two unfortunate college recruiters were sent out to find a candidate to fill the spot from a list of rejected applicants or loose their jobs.
“They go through every emotion from funny to fear and they think they are never going to find the right student,” play director and Elementary teacher Deborah Egglefield said.
Egglefield said the audience will be in stitches as they take the crazy journey with two college recruiters who interview undesirable student after undesirable student.
“We have pretty much every kind of student who is very unqualified and we’ve put them into one play,” Egglefield said.
One of the potential students is a “practicing vampire.”
“She isn’t a vampire but she hopes to become one someday,” Egglefield said.
The play will have little to no props - just the stage, a desk and two actors.
Egglefield said the simplicity will put extra focus on the actions of the potential college candidates. She said they can’t give too much away, just imagine the last resort but worst.
“These recruiters have been told to find one last student or they might as well not come back to work,” Egglefield said. “We have one student who has no GPA, another who thinks she’s at an audition and another who tells the recruiter he only wants to go to the school if there are a lot of chicks.”
Proceeds for the play benefit the senior class for activities including the senior trip. For more information about the play send a message to Egglefield at firstname.lastname@example.org.
