Following the recent death of Norman W. Auger, announced in the Berkshire Eagle, the Board of Directors of the Society for Nominating Interesting Things (SNIT) announce the formation of the Norman W. Auger Chapter to continue Mr. Augers life long campaign to foster the correct usage of his name. According to Mr. Auger, for years semi-illiterate persons (usually national reporters) have been using the expression bodes well rather than the more correct, and literate augers well. According to Mr. Auger, the Oxford Dictionary clearly notes that bodes connotes evil and augers connotes well. The appointment of Mr. Myers of Crater Club fame as the Chapter Chastiser bodes evil. Anyone seeing or hearing the bodes well expression should contact Mr. Myers so he can than chastise the perpetrator! And now for startling Essex news. The Whallonsburg Civic Association has made an offer to the Essex Town Board to manage the Grange Hall. While these talks are on going, Jim LaForest will continue to manage the Grange Hall. A crisis erupted at the Essex Methodist Church when the congregation lost heating. During the subsequent service downstairs in the Friendship Hall, a furnace repairman arrived and corrected the problem. A friendship dinner was held with Claudia, Irene, Laurie, Shirley, and Lynn to get over the shock of their husbands leaving to attend a meeting in Ti. A good time was had and, strangely? with nary more than 2 minutes devoted to words about husbands. The next day, Mac and Karla Mac attended a 90th birthday celebration for Dr. Carl Engelhard where they observed Jim and Shirley reuniting with Carl, a truly outstanding impact or of life, teacher and humanist. Dr. Engelhard and wife Margaret will return to Vinalhaven, Me. if the Atlantic subsides enough for a ferry departure. Do you want to get zoned out? A committee consisting of Clair LaPine, Steve Sayward, Don Hollingsworth, Jim VanHoven, and Ted Cornell will be reviewing sections of our draconian Zoning Laws. Callem if you wanta or needta. Dont forget the square Dance at the Whallonsburg Grange on the 26th at 7.30. Yall come for a grand time. Heat will be available, but bring your own dancing shoes. Gary Finney will be the caller with his band. See Ya.
