EESEX - Many activities are scheduled for the 17th annual "Christmas in The Village" set to take place Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 3, 4 and 5. Decorated village shops will be open all three days from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be refreshments at the shops and a soup and chili lunch at The Cupola House Sunday to benefit the local food shelf.
On Saturday, Santa will arrive at the Essex ferry at 9:30 a.m. Parents and children are invited to have breakfast with Santa and Mrs. Claus at the Essex Firehouse on NYS Route 22 afterwards. The annual Essex Community Church Bazaar and Luncheon happens Saturday starting at 10 a.m.
Local author Kristin Kimball, will be on hand Saturday afternoon at Beldon Noble Library at 1 p.m. to sign her new book, The Dirty Life, a memoir of her life at Essex Farm. Signed copies of Steven Kellogg's new book will be also be available at the library. There will be an art exhibit at the Adirondack Art Association Gallery open all three days, with artists available. The AAA gallery is located in the Olde Essex Firehouse at the light on Main Street. The Cupola House Gallery on South Main Street will have "A Holiday Sampler" exhibit during the entire month of December, featuring fine and folk art from area artists as well as excellent local crafts and quilts.
A Holiday Craft Bazaar at the Whallonsburg Grange Hall from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., will feature local work as well as homemade soup and other refreshments. This event is a benefit for our troops serving overseas. For information, call Helen Coste 963-4166.
