Municipalities and residents damaged by Tropical Storm Irene are being encouraged to submit information to the Essex County Office of Emergency Services.
That’s according to a release issued Wednesday by Emergency Services Director Donald Jaquish.
Jaquish says towns, villages, and property owners must begin filling out damage assessment forms as soon as possible in order for county officials to turn the information over to the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
Doing so will expedite the process for obtaining public and private aid, Jaquish says.
Municipalities should also be prepared to meet with FEMA assessment teams. Local leaders are being asked to come up with a list of approximate damages for preliminary assessments.
