Former 20-year veteran Rutland City Police Sgt. David Schauwecker told a judge Sept. 27 he wanted to abandon his lawsuit against the city.
Schauwecker was fired in April of last year for allegedly having child pornography on computers he used. He received a misdemeanor charge as a result.
Rutland City Attorney Andrew Costello said he had figured the case would be dismissed when it came before a judge.
Costello said Schauwecker would not receive any back pay or severance pay, however, he will receive a pension as a vested former city employee.
