TICONDEROGA - The deadline for student participation in the North Country Regional History Day Contest is approaching.
Students in grades 6-12 from Clinton, Essex, Franklin, and Warren counties have until Friday, Feb. 13, to register for the contest, which will be held at Fort Ticonderoga on Friday, Feb. 27.
Winners at the competition advance to the New York State History Day Contest held in Cooperstown on May 1.

Every year thousands of students participate in History Day contests across the country. This year's theme, "The Individual in History", encourages students to conduct in-depth research into an historical figure and present their work in forms that range from papers to performance art.
State winners advance to the National Contest held in College Park, Md., in June.
