Father James Dodson, parochial vicar at Christ the King Church, is ready to move heaven and earth for Rutland’s two Catholic schools—Christ the King School and Mount St. Joseph Academy.
The Rutland priest is integral to Rutland Catholic Schools’ second annual Tractor Raffle effort to benefit the schools.
Last year, according to Dodson, the raffle profits amounted to $46,000. The funds were divided equally between the two schools.
Dodson said this year’s grand prize is a choice of $12,000 in cash or a John Deere 1023E Tractor with two attachments: Frontier GM 1060E Grooming Mower and John Deere D120 Front Loader. Additional prizes are one cash prize of $500 and two cash prizes of $250 each.
A total of 2011 tickets are available for $50 each. Tickets are being sold by students, at Christ the King rectory and school, and at the Mount Saint Joseph school office. Checks should be made payable to Rutland Catholic Schools. Tickets also may be purchased on-line at www.msjvermont.org.
The drawing will be held at the annual Christ the King School Spaghetti Dinner on Oct. 22. You do not have to be present to win, but you are welcome to enjoy the festivities at 60 S. Main St., Rutland. The dinner will begin just after 6 p.m.
