WARRENSBURG Shoppers wait all year for this weekend to arrive, and it is finally here.
The Worlds Largest Garage Sale is back in Warrensburg this Saturday and Sunday, and Friday evening as well. It is a garage sale that garage sale people dream of. Vendors start lining Route 9 south of Lake George and stretch north of Warrensburg to take advantage of the thousands of shoppers that descend on the town.
Main Street in downtown Warrensburg has the most vendors from all over the country, usually selling antiques and clearing out their inventory of products. The side streets are individual garage sales, with residents selling their treasures and trash.
Need some tools? Find a screwdriver or a chain saw, a set of Allen wrenches or a sledge hammer. Jewelry, leather goods, clothes for the whole family and lots of socks are always garage sale staples.
Antiques are everywhere, and shoppers can find some real deals all over time. And when you get hungry, the food vendors will be happy to feed you. Everything from chicken wings, barbecue ribs, gourmet chicken pitas and home baked cookies. Local school kids are raising money flipping burgers and dogs, and you can support your favorite civic group by buying their food.
Garage sale officially starts Saturday morning at 9 a.m. and lasts all day until 5 p.m. and opens again for the same hour s on Sunday. Have plenty of cash on hand and dress in layers. Early fall weather can bring both cold and warm temperatures in the same day. Its a good idea bring a backpack to put of your smaller buys in and wear a waist-belt for easy hands-free shopping. Most importantly, wear comfortable walking shoes, because you will walk a lot.
