LAKE GEORGE In past years, when Americade rolled into Lake George each June, the Village of Lake Georges Beach Road parking lot has been home to thousands of motorcycles bearing the villages Americade preferred parking pass. This year though, that same space will host Yamahas Americade exhibit as well as a non-profit group that teaches rider safety. Four large trailers that cant be accommodated at Fort William Henry will move down the hill to the Beach Road lot and replace the more than 2,000 motorcycles that would have been there in previous years. The village can offer the the Beach Road lot to Americade because of its investment in Gaslight Village. Well replace that parking by opening two lots in Gaslight Village, Mayor Robert Blais told village trustees on Monday. Those lots can easily accommodate 2,000 motorcycles. Americade will pay the village $5,050.00 for use of the Beach Road lot for the week. Well staff the Gaslight Village lots, Blais explained. Those without a permit will pay to park there. Those proceeds will go into the Gaslight Village maintenance fund, Blais said. Its a win/win, he said. We bring in $5,000 in revenue with no loss in parking. Trustee John Root wondered if Americade might try to allow vendors in the Beach Road lot along with the other two exhibits. Blais said he didnt think there would be room with four trailers already planned for the lot. But if they did, theyd have to pay an additional fee, Blais said. Blais said the trolley route will be altered so that they stop at Gaslight Village along their route. People can park there, Blais said, and just take the trolley wherever they need to go.
