Westport 46, Moriah 27
MORIAH - Westport's defense proved too much for the home team as the Eagles took a 46-27 win over the Vikings in the Moriah Christmas Tournament consolation game Dec. 30.
Willa McKinley paced Westport with 13 points, and Kalika Hopkins added 11. Kacee Kolodzy was the high scorer for Moriah with nine points.
The Eagles jumped out to an early 12-4 lead and built on their lead, finishing with another 12-4 run in the final quarter.
Brushton-Moira 68, Elizabethtown-Lewis 47
CHAZY - The Lions could not overcome a slow start as they fell to Section 10's Brushton-Moira in the Chazy Shootout Dec. 30.
The Panthers jumped out to a 20-6 lead in the first quarter and built on their lead throughout the game. Three players scored in double figures for Brushton-Moira including Taylor Keck with 19, Candy Dufrane with 15, and Chenice Russell with 10.
Kelsy Gibson was the Lions' high scorer with 11 points.
Willsboro 37, Moriah 32
PORT HENRY - Free throws proved the difference as the Warriors grabbed a win from the host Vikings at the Moriah Christmas Tournament Dec. 29.
Willsboro hit 11 free throws against Moriah's four, using that margin to overcome being outscored 28-26 from the field.
Codia Holland led the Warriors with 12 points. Ashley Sherman added 10 and Jen Murphy nine in a balanced scoring attack.
Moriah's Kaycee Kolodzey scored 12 points, and Jen Tesar added 11.
Willsboro improved to 5-1 with the win.
Chazy 44, Keene 28
CHAZY - The Beavers struggled to get their offense going as they fell to Chazy in MVAC girls basketball Jan. 6.
The Eagles led by three at halftime, but picked up the pace in the second half, outscoring Keene 29-16.
Devin Latremore and Olivia Seymore led a balanced scoring attack with 10 points apiece for the Eagles. Stephanie Pepper and Alys Lyons each had 9.
Emma Nye was the lone Beaver in double figures with 16.
Elizabethtown-Lewis 49, Bolton 24
ELIZABETHTOWN - The Lions held the Eagles to just eight second half points on their way to a decisive victory over Bolton in MVAC girls basketball Jan. 6.
Kelsey Gibson had a game-high 15 points for Elizabethtown. Val Plante added 10 and Riley Diemand dominated the paint on both sides of the ball, finishing with seven points.
Katie Bliley led Bolton with 9 points, all coming in the first half.
