Michael Parent won the Republican Party nomination for Ticonderoga highway superintendent in primary voting Sept. 14.
Parent defeated Paul Sharkey, 291-55, for the GOP nod.
Sharkey has filed as an independent and will be back in November on that line.
The winner in the November general election will replace former Highway Superintendent Arthur "Pat" Morrison, who resigned after a conviction for taking kickbacks.
Parent worked for the town highway department for 35 years, while Sharkey is the owner of Sharkey's Snowplowing Service.
