SWANTON -- A hunter who went missing in a wildlife refuge was found last Saturday using a Border Patrol helicopter equipped with a thermal imaging device. Vermont State Police said that 53 year-old Robert Britch, of Highgatem went missing late Saturday. A resident alerted police after hearing two distant gunshots, an indicator that someone was in distress. The resident also reported hearing shouting. Searchand rescue workers could not cover the difficult terrain, and the helicopter was called in. The thermal imaging device was able to locate Britch in a matter of minutes. He was brought to safety by State game wardens and he declined medical attention.
