A Lake Placid accountant and former candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives has been named the Adirondack representative for the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Doug Hoffman was formally appointed as director representative for the society's Adirondack Chapter late last week. He is managing partner at Dragon Benware Crowley in Lake Placid.
Hoffman joined the state CPA society in 1978, serving three terms as president and president-elect of the group's Adirondack Chapter. He's also served as the chapter's vice president and secretary and currently sits on the chapter's Executive Board and Steering Committee.
In the past, Hoffman has worked with the Adirondack Medical Center Foundation, the North Country Community College Foundation, and was the corporate controller for the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid.
Hoffman made two runs for Congress in recent years and enjoyed widespread support among fiscal conservatives across the North Country.
