TICONDEROGA Roger A. Masse has been named Inter-Lakes Health chief executive officer. Inter-Lakes Health operates Moses-Ludington Hospital, Heritage Commons nursing home and other facilities in Ticonderoga. Masse brings more than 38 years of health care experience to the position, which he will start July 19. Masse has led Clifton-Fine Hospital, in Star Lake, the past five years.. Similar to Moses-Ludington, Clifton-Fine is a rural critical access hospital with 30 beds for acute care and long term care, and a variety of on-site health clinics and specialty services. I very much look forward to working with the board and the professionals at Inter-Lakes to help them enhance all that they provide to the community, and to continue to have a fiscally viable facility that provides a vital service to the region, Masse said. I am especially interested in getting to know my new community and all its wonderful opportunities. He comes to Inter-Lakes Health with extensive experience as a CEO in rural New York state as well as knowledge of state health care rules and regulations. Masse is currently chair of the Northern New York Hospital Association, an offshoot of the Healthcare Association of New York State. The group meets regularly throughout the year to review common agendas and goals of the states smaller and more rural hospitals and health care providers. His health care experience stretches back to the Air Force in 1971 as an administrator for the Medical Service Corps. Masses wife, Annice, is a registered nurse at Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown. Between them, they have five children from age 21 to 29. Masse succeeds Kevin Haughney, who had held both the chief executive officer and chief financial officer positions at Inter-Lakes since 2006. In January 2008 Haughney announced his decision to step down from the CEO duties but continue in the CFO post. The health services of Inter-Lakes Health, Inc., include Moses-Ludington Hospital, which provides emergency care, day surgery, diagnostic testing, primary care and rehabilitation services; Heritage Commons Residential Healthcare, a skilled nursing facility for long-term and temporary rehabilitative care; Lord Howe Estates, an apartment complex for senior citizens and persons with disabilities eligible for federal housing assistance; Moses-Ludington Adult Care, an adult home; Inter-Lakes Medical Supply, a medical equipment and products company; and Inter-Lakes Dental Clinic. All are housed on the Inter-Lakes Health campus in Ticonderoga.
