QUEENSBURY Most of the local elections were decided by the unoffical vote count right after Election Day, but a few races were too close to call and had to wait on offical results that include absentee ballots. In Bolton, Town Clerk Kathleen Simmes and Ronald Conover were within about 50 votes of eachother, with 113 absentee ballots out. The final count was Simmes with 531 and Conover with 478. In Thurman, John Haskell was challenged by Randall Oppitz, and the unofficial results put Haskell ahead by less than 20 votes with 40 absentee ballots out. The official results show Haskell with 214 votes, and Oppitz with 195. Original results showed town board contender Glenda Duell with no votes, but a faulty voting machine was the reason for that. Duell garnered 97 votes in the race. The Warrensburg Highway Superintendent race was also close, with the offical results showing Gerald Pennock Jr. with 501 votes and Wendell Beadnell with 445.
