Twelve creative local children in kindergarten, first, second and third grade have won Vermont Public Television's annual Reading Rainbow Young Writers and Illustrators Contest. The educational outreach project encourages children to express themselves by writing and illustrating their own stories.
VPT will honor the children Thursday, May 28, at 7:30 p.m. with a TV program and simultaneous webcast on www.vpt.org. The broadcast program will repeat May 30 at 8:30 a.m. and May 31 at noon.
The winning stories are posted on VPT's website, and the children will be featured reading their work in short spots airing on VPT throughout the year.
