Laura Pritchard is anxiously awaiting a move of her own.
The director of the Dannemora Free Library has been busier than usual in recent weeks as she prepares for the library to move from its home at Dannemora Town Hall on Cook Street to the village of Dannemora’s new office building on Emmons Street.
“We’re in the process of gathering and boxing everything, making sure it’s labeled properly so when we make the move, our transition will be smooth,” said Pritchard.
The expanded space at the new village office building will allow for the library to grow its more popular reading sections such as young adult literature and junior nonfiction.
The library was expected to be relocated earlier this month, but the date has been pushed back, said Pritchard. The library will now close from Monday, Aug. 15, through Friday, Aug. 26, as the move is made, with the library opening in its new location Monday, Aug. 29.
While the library is shut down for the move, a book depository box will be located at either the town hall or the new village office building, said Pritchard.
“Right now, we’re still trying to raise money to help with the move and renovations,” said Pritchard. “We’re also looking for volunteers who want to help us move.”
Those interested in making a donation or volunteering may contact Pritchard at the library during regular business hours — Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Tuesday, 2 to 8 p.m. — at 492-7005.
