This winter we have witnessed an outpouring of generosity in our communities as neighbors have reached out to help neighbors. The winter isn't over yet, and so the Middlebury Area Clergy Association has decided to "weigh in" on hunger in Addison County.
Together, the faith community has set a goal of gathering 12,000 pounds of food during the month of March. Local clergy and their congregations have each set individual goals that will enable us to reach our community goal of six tons of food.
Churches and religious communities in the Middlebury area will serve as collection points for parishioners and community members to drop off food items which will then be distributed to local foodshelves.
From Ripton to Bridport, people of faith are working together to restock pantries and shelves with groceries for our neighbors in need. Anyone can "weigh in" on this challenge by bringing food items to their local house of worship. With the unified efforts of the faith community we hope to surpass our goal and ensure that our community foodshelves are weighed down with tons of food.
For more information or to participate in this six-ton-challenge, please contact or visit your local church or house of worship.
