On Wednesday, Dec. 5, 6:30 8:30 p.m., Rural Vermont will host a Local Foods Fundraiser at the Glass Onion Restaurant in the Hannaford Career Center, located at 51 Charles Ave. in Middlebury. The meal will feature many items from Rural Vermonts new Local Foods Cookbook, and each dish will highlight products from the areas farmers, bakers, and food artisans. Local, farm fresh ingredients will take center stage at this event. The food is being provided by Champlain Orchards, Animal Farm, Heleba Potato Farm, Blue Ledge Farm, Tio Grain Farm, Champlain Valley Bees & Queens, Eastman Farm, Golden Russet Farm, Three Owls Dairy, Last Resort Farm, Holden Heritage Agriculture, Crawford Farm, and Good Companion Bakery. This benefit wouldnt be possible without the generous in-kind support of the chef, Susan Reid, formerly of Susans Kitchen in Montpelier. Reid will be working closely with the students enrolled in Hannaford Career Centers culinary arts program to prepare and serve this fine meal. There are a limited number of tickets available!
