Three men were arrested as part of an ongoing investigation into the criminal sale of controlled substances on June 26.
The three were taken into custody after an investigation revealed they were allegedly possessing and selling cocaine and ecstacy.
Brett M. Richardson, 24, of Lake Placid was arrested in Lake Placid; Gregory A. Cadiz, 24, of Plattsburgh was arrested in Morrisonville; and Branden M. Bashaw, 25, of Bangor was arrested in Bangor. All three were arrested without incident.
On two different occasions the individuals were documented selling drugs to an undercover police official over the past year in the Lake Placid area. The three men are being charged individually with two counts of third degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and two counts of third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Lake Placid Police Chief Bill Moore said the Essex County Drug Task Force has been investigating the individuals for a year and hope more investigation will lead law enforcement to the source of the narcotics.
“Our main focus is to have people dealing drugs in our community stopped and arrested,” Moore said.
There are currently no further arrests pending but Moore said he expects the task force will be making more in relation to their investigation.
The three men are currently being held and await arraignment before Judge Meyers at Lake Placid Town Court.
The investigation is being handled by the Essex County Drug Task Force, which is a combined effort with the Essex County Sheriff’s Office, Vermont National Guard, DEA, Border Patrol, New York State Police, Lake Placid Police, Saranac Lake Police and Ticonderoga Police Departments.
