CHESTERTOWN - When the acclaimed Prairie Home Companion show airs its Great American Duet Sing-Off Saturday April 11 on National Public Radio, one of the six finalists will be the group Mood Indigo - Joe Romano and Susan Elliott.
This duo performed last year at the Town Theatre in Chestertown in the musical "What the Butler Saw" and the earlier presentation of "Stories for Americans," both directed by Alfred Hyslop. Both were productions of the theater organization Stratford-on-Hudson. On the latter occasion, Romano and Elliott also presented an evening cabaret and a program for children.
Alfred Hyslop and Nancy Brooks, directors of Stratford on Hudson, continue to present shows at the Town Theatre with both professional and non-professional talent
They are always on the lookout for people, experienced or not, who share their enthusiasm for bringing live theater to audiences and gaining the enrichment of working on quality material ranging from Shakespeare and earlier to contemporary writers, the directors said.
Hyslop and Brooks can be reached at 494-2344. Stratford-on-Hudson productions are sponsored by the Town of Chester. This not-for-profit group has received support from occupancy tax funds, the Pearsall Adirondack Foundation, LARAC, and donations from the public, with a view to making quality entertainment available in Northern Warren County at modest ticket prices.
