VERGENNES - Donnell Collins of Leunig's Bistro & Caf will try to defend her title as Top Chef at the fifth annual Top Chef of the Champlain Valley, an Iron Chef Experience to benefit CVAA's Meals on Wheels and Case Management programs on Aug. 8 at UVM's Davis Center.
Collins will go head to head with Shawn Calley of the Essex Resort & Spa and Matt Birong of 3 Squares Caf in Vergennes.
Collins, the 2010 winner of the CVAA Top Chef is the co-owner and Executive Chef for Leunig's Bistro. She has put her mark on this 30 year landmark restaurant on Church St. Collins creates seasonal menus that use the best products Vermont has to offer. Previously Collins did a stint at Starry Night Caf and Pauline's Caf .
Birong is the Executive Chef and owner of 3 Squares Caf in Vergennes. A graduate of the New England Culinary Institute.
The Top Chef supports local farms using all Vermont ingredients in this gourmet cook-off. Some of the areas top chefs will be providing a selection of tasty appetizers and desserts for the audience.
