A local man is free on bail after trying to flee from cops, who were forced to use pepper spray in order to apprehend him.
Lake Placid Village Police arrested 21-year-old Justin K. Kelton of Lake Placid at 1:29 a.m. Wednesday. He was subsequently charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct.
According to police, Kelton allegedly damaged another person's vehicle by striking it as it passed him on a local roadway.
When officer's attempted to take him into custody, he fled on foot, leading police on a foot chase. Upon apprehension, Kelton continued to resist arrest, forcing officers to use pepper spray.
Kelton was processed at the police station and arraigned in Lake Placid Village Court. He was released after posting $500 cash bail.
He's scheduled to reappear at a later date.
