LAKE PLACID - Friday, March 5, the Lake Placid Center for the Arts will host the 16th annual Adirondack Art Career and College Day.
The event is sponsored by Arts Council for Northern Adirondacks, New York State Art Teachers Association, Region Five and the Center at Lake Placid. North Country High School Art students are invited to meet with representatives from Art Schools and Colleges, and regional artists. The program is directed to juniors interested in careers in the visual arts and covers development and review of portfolios, career information, and job experiences. Matt Burnett, artist and an assistant professor of art at SUNY Canton will be the Keynote presenter for the morning session.
The following Colleges and Art Schools are planning to attend:, Cazenovia, Clinton Community College, Hartwick, Lyme Academy, Montserrat College of Art, Pratt at Munson Williams-Proctor, North County Community College, Pratt Institute, Sage College of Albany, Center for Art and Design at College of Saint Rose, SUNY Canton, SUNY Plattsburgh and SUNY Potsdam.
Regional artists participating in small informational career workshops include David Monette, Illustrator; Sally Smith, environmental sculptor/designer; and Allison Kohler, Architect.
