Volunteers looking to expand and improve the building which houses the Lake Placid Volunteer Ambulance Service have raised $100,000 to date.
Officials with the ambulance service said Monday the Building Project Fund now tops the one hundred grand mark.
Donations have been flowing in from members of the community and through a grant from the Uihlein Foundation. Construction of a new three-and-a-half bay garage is already under way and almost completely paid for.
A group of 40 citizens and businesses have issued a financial challenge to the Lake Placid community – and businesses and individuals like Harlow Excavation & Contracting, UPS-Lake Placid, Ginny Haselton, and Adirondack Awards have stepped up to the plate with in-kind support.
Ambulance representatives say the town of North Elba and village of Lake Placid have been a big help, too.
The ambulance service is located on Dow Street and construction is ongoing.
