On Aug. 4, Vermont State Troopers were dispatched to a report of an assault and attempted arson in Ferrisburgh.
Debbie Sordiff, 49, called 911 and reported that her brother, Robert Companion, 60, had poured gasoline on her house porch. When he was confronted by her husband, David Sordiff, 49, of Ferrisburgh, Companion struck Sordiff in the head with the base plate of an automobile tire jack.
Sordiff advised troopers that Companion had yelled, “I will burn you out,” as he was pouring gasoline on the porch. Sordiff suffered a laceration to the head but refused medical treatment. Companion was lodged at the Chittenden County jail for lack of $15,000 bond.
