CLINTONVILLE - A host of new competitors are making AuSable Valley a dark horse in CVAC Track & Field this year.
Nine athletes join the boys team, adding to an already experienced group.
"Our team has a strong core of young sprinters, featuring Austin Davis, Ben Prentiss, James Montefusco, Josh Ashline and Jorden Bouyea," said head coach Heith Ford. Kaleb Wood and Nate Roy will also look to prove themselves in the short races.
Nate Crowningshield, Jonathan Bouyea, Kyle Donah, James Parker, Casey Santo, Kyle Doner, Vincent Roman, and James Crowningshield make up a deep and experienced group of thowers for the Patriots.
Distance runners include Josh Giddings, Shane Lieberth, and James Rock. Joseph Lincoln, Nick Sitts and Thomas Therrian return to run the 400 and 800 meter races, and are joined by Aaron Conner and Josh Ashline.
Led by head coach Kevin Devins, the girls team is small in numbers this year and will be anchored by sophomore transfer student Sidney Flint, who should be strong in the long and triple jumps as well as the 100 and 200 meter races. Freshman Rachel Agoney, a top thower in indoor track, should help out in the shotput and discus. Eighth grader Bryce Allen showed promise in the sprints during the indoor season, and Jessie Slater returns as a dependable hurdler. Newcomers Lorri LaBarge, Kassie LeClair, Taylor Loreman and Giovanna Nelkin round out the team.
