SCHROON LAKE I grew up in North Hudson at the Gray Goose, the first road house on Rt. 9 to Montreal Canada during prohibition. I grew up there with my brothers Bruce and Charlie Hinds and our pet bear Sonny Boy who many a traveler provided a bottle of sugar water. I was a 1936 graduate of Schroon Lake School and a 1939graduate of Green Mountain College. During the war I worked as a superintendent of inspections for Pratt-Whitney Aircraft. In 1946 I married Harry Tucker Jr. and had four sons, Harry Tucker the 3rd, twins John and Jeff, and Philip. I was and extra in the movie Marjorie Morning Star that was filmed at Scaroon Manor. I also received my MS Degree from Skidmore College and in 1980 I retired as an Art Teacher in Newcomb and Minerva schools. I served on five school boards which included Schroon Lake, Essex County and NYS Coop Board in Plattsburgh and I also served as a representative for the National Coop Board and was a facilitator for N. Y. School Boards in Albany. I was employed as a driver at the 1980 Olympics in Lake Placid and was honored to drive the King of Sweden and the Mayor of Berlin. I was president of the Ladies Golf League in Schroon Lake and was an employee at the Golf Course. I was a life member of the Schroon Lake Fish and Game Club, and was instrumental with Schroon Lake Aqua Nights; Judge of the 4th of July parades and perpetrator of many a treasure Hunt. I was predeceased by my husband Harry, my son John and my brothers Bruce and Charlie Hinds. I am survived by my sons Harry the 3rd and his wife Diane, Jeff and Loraine, Philip and many nieces and nephews. I would like to thank my caregivers and say happy farewell to all my friends in my beloved Schroon Lake. At my request there will be no calling hours. A celebration of my life will be held at a later date. Donations in my memory may be made to High Peaks Hospice or the Schroon Lake Emergency Squad.
