MIDDLEBURY-The Mary Hogan School Board in Middlebury has been reviewing its kindergarten entrance age policy. As part of its examination of the policy, board members charged its curriculum and staff committee to compile data regarding this issue and make a recommendation to the board. Last week, the committee completed its review.
Currently the policy states that children who have reached the age of five years on or before Jan. 1 are admitted to Kindergarten.
On Thursday, April 7, at 6:45 p.m. in the Mary Hogan School Music Room, committee members, along with principals Tom Buzzell and Bonnie Bourne, will present the findings from their study to the community.
Included will be a review of policies and procedures from surrounding districts, input from local preschools, and a review of Mary Hogan achievement/retention data. A questions-and-answer discussion will follow the presentation.
