Medicare works hard to make sure that the doctors, health care providers, suppliers, and private companies it contracts with are honest.
Use these tips to help prevent fraud:
* Review your Medicare Summary Notice or any notice from your plan that shows charges for items or services you got.
* Make sure Medicare wasn't billed for an item or service you didn't get.
* Ask your doctor or other health care provider about any charge that may be wrong.
* Call the HHS Office of Inspector General at 1-800447-8477 to report any concerns. TTY users should call 1-800-377-4950.
