Middlebury voters will decide Tuesday, Sept. 27, to approve or reject a $250,000 bond to move ahead and rebuild fire stations on Seymour Street downtown and Route 125 in East Middlebury.
The Sept.. 27 vote does not end the multi-stage process. Another vote, a $4.6 million bond doe both stations, will be up for vote in March 2012 as well.
Lack of space at the downtown station and technical problems at the East Middlebury substation prompted the move to refit both stations by Bread Loaf Corp. of Middlebury.
Town officials said the project might be able to proceed if voters reject the plan tonight.
