His 56 votes bested incumbent Highway Superintendent Mark Yandon’s 34 votes. There was one write-in vote. Both candidates had filed Independent nominating petitions for the general election.
About 9:15 p.m. on Sept. 10, Supervisor Corey posted the following on Facebook: “Many thanks to everyone who came out today to vote (regardless of who you voted for). Thanks too to all those who supported me. It is greatly appreciated.”
The votes are unofficial at this time, as absentee ballots have to be counted.
