PLATTSBURGH Mountain Lake PBS will host air three-day celebration this weekend called Close to Home. The stations own local productions, as well as productions of local interest, will air beginning Friday, Feb. 8, at 8 p.m., continuing through 9 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10. The programming will reflect the cultural life of the North Country region. Productions from the past and the present will be aired, including the stations newest series, Rustic Living, hosted by producers Derek Muirden and Aubrey Bresett. The program features the homes and handiwork of skilled designers and builders, as well as the weekend crafters, at the forefront of the Rustic Living movement. Ongoing weekly shows will also air, including Roadside Adventures, Adirondack Outdoors, Art Express, and Mountain Lake Journal. The line-up continues with a trip down memory lane starting with A Castle in Every Heart: The Arto Monaco Story, Call of the Loon, Inside Adirondacks: Creating the Wild Center, and Retracing Rockwell Kent: A Documentary by Frederick Lewis. The Mountain Lake PBS Close to Home weekend gives us a chance to thank our members and viewers for their continued support, for without that support, we cant continue to produce or offer the quality of programming we have broadcast from our station throughout the years, said Colin Powers, director of production and programming. Our goal for the weekend is to spread the word about the wonderful work being produced at Mountain Lake PBS, and inspire new members to join the station. Not only will Mountain Lake PBS producers, staff members, board members and volunteers be in the studio for live on-air appearances during the Close to Home weekend, the station has also asked many community partners to make on-air appearances as well.
