To the Editor: I live in West Addison, north of the DAR State Park, near the WAGS store and Goodys stand. My neighbors are a diverse and credible group. Ten or more of them have spoken with me about a huge, rust colored, long-tailed cat. This cat has been sighted chasing deer, is believed to have killed one, and dragged it a considerable distance.
The encounters began about two years ago and have increased in frequency over the past few months. While very common in the area, bobcats have been ruled out; this cat is much larger and has a long tail.
Such cats are not supposed to inhabit the area, however, the sightings have prompted some to be looking over their shoulders, both day and night, when outside.
Have such cats been sighted in other nearby areas?
