MINERVA - With the score tied heading into the seventh inning something had to give as MVAC baseball power-house the Indian Lake-Long Lake Orange and the Minerva-Newcomb Mountaineers clashed with league supremacy on the line April 29.
Minerva-Newcomb held a 6-5 lead over the visiting Orange in a back-and-forth contest heading into the sixth inning. The scores were locked at 8 apiece in the top of the seventh when the flood-gates opened and the Orange offensive machine put eight more runs on the board.
Indian Lake-Long Lake relief pitching silenced the Mountaineer bats in the bottom half of the seventh and the Orange won 16-8.
Jordan Monthony had five RBIs and Jeff Reynolds drove in four for the Orange and Sam Kelly, Brandon Poulton, Kevin Yandon, Devin Tokarz and Chris Kellogg combined for 12 hits and eight RBIs for Minerva-Newcomb.
