Wow what a difference a week makes. Last week I had a rough week, but what I learned from it is I am healthier and stronger than I was a year ago. I took a few days off to recover but started back up exercising with no issues. I followed my routine this week as normal and feel better than ever. I am hoping to hit my next goal of 30 lbs. lost before the race and I am getting close, so it is exciting.
I can't tell you how amazing it feels to think back to where I was a year ago and realize what a difference baby steps can make. A year ago at this time I was in the hospital and missed weeks of work. Exercise was the farthest thing from my mind, much less a half marathon. It just goes to show anyone can do it if they put their mind to it. I can't believe that in a week I will be 40 and my goals of being fit are coming to fruition. My friends and family have been fantastic - they support me and help wherever they can to keep me on track.
Signs of spring are coming and it has been so nice to get outside; I have been encouraging my mom to start walking with me. My daughter and I are already planning to do fun runs together this summer and start riding our bikes more. For those following my journey, thanks for all the words of encouragement. For those thinking of starting on a journey, it is never too late. Take it one day at a time and start small. Baby steps will build. This weekend I am scheduled to do 10 miles - stay tuned next week to see if it becomes a reality.
