Chamber seeks names for award
The Warrensburg Chamber of Commerce is now seeking nominations for its annual Citizens of the Year award.
Those who know of someone who has contributed substantially to the Warrensburg community over the past 12 months as well as prior years, are asked to submit the nomination via phone to Chamber personnel at 623-2161 or by mail at: Warrensburg Chamber of Commerce, 3847 Main St., Warrensburg NY 12885 or by email at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
The submissions should include the following information: the citizen's name, address and phone number; the reason for the nomination with accompanying details; and the name, address and phone number of the person submitting the nomination. Nominations must be received by the Chamber no later than April 30.
A recognition dinner will be held in June to honor the citizen(s) chosen for the award.
W'burg museum to host local interviews
On Sunday, April 17, a special event will be held at the Warrensburgh Museum of Local history from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. for those interested in the museum's ongoing exhibit, "Stock Car Racing at Ashland Park." Additional photos and artifacts have been added since the February opening of the stock car exhibit. The Warrensburgh Historical Society will be video-recording informal conversations about these historic events, which took place in Warrensburg between 1952 and the early 1960s. Refreshments will be served.
In other developments, the museum organizers are now seeking out photographs of the Warren Theatre and the Fairyland Theatre for a mini-exhibit on Warrensburg entertainment. They are also looking for photos of Warrensburg shops from any period, for the museum's files. The museum is open each Wednesday and Sunday, 1 to 4 p.m. plus the first Thursday of each month from 6 to 8 p.m.
The museum is located in the VFW building at 3754 Main St. The entrance and parking are at the rear of the building. Admission is free.
