NEWCOMB - Both homestead and non-homestead owners will see a small tax increase in 2010.
The total budget for 2010 was settled at $4,049,588 with an applied fund of $956,680. The tax levy will be $3,092,908.
From 2009, the general and highway funds are down $3,165, while fire protection is up $25,000.
Homestead taxes have been set at $1.77 per $1,000 assessed - up from $1.73 last year. Non-homestead taxes for 2010 will be $10.01 per $1,000 assessed - up from $9.61.
Newcomb has budgeted in some expected land purchases for 2010 and included a 3 percent wage increase for most elected and appointed officials. Retirement funds went up $27,000 and health insurance increased by $51,000. Those were the major changes, explained Supervisor George Canon.
"We were able to maintain a stable tax levy by the use of revenue," he said.
